3. How to make a mold of stump
A mold of stump is an important part of an artificial limb, as a good
mold of stump helps the amputee to walk comfortably without the pain
accompanying the artificial leg. Here are some steps in making a mold
of stump limb.
3.1 Dip a bandage plaster of Paris that have been prepared in water.
3.2 Tie a bandage plaster of Paris on the part of the leg which was
amputated up to the bone join (knee-joint or thigh-joint).
3.3 Find a spot to form a hollow on the a bandage plaster of Paris
in (3.2) by pressing the spot with a thumb. This is to form a knob
so that the limb won't rotate while being worn.
3.4 Carefully remove the a bandage plaster of Paris from the leg of
the amputee. Be careful not to deform the a bandage plaster of Paris.
Leave it until dry and hard.
3.5 Pour the plaster, in liquid form, into the block. Leave it until
dry.
3.6 Remove a bandage plaster of Paris out of the plaster in (3.5)
and you will get the mold of stump which is similar to the shape of
the amputee's leg. The removed a bandage plaster of Paris can be reused.
